Medical Records Coder - Medical Records
Job description:

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in medical coding and billing, with proficiency in DRG, CPT coding, HCPCS and ICD-10. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate coding of medical records, which directly impacts the revenue cycle and compliance within our organization. The Senior Medical Coder will work closely with medical professionals to ensure that all coding is completed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities
Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered using ICD-10, CPT coding,HCPCS and DRG methodologies.
Ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines related to medical coding and billing.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve discrepancies in coding.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding standards, and industry regulations.
Utilize EMR and EHR systems effectively for documentation and coding purposes.
Conduct audits of coded records to ensure accuracy and adherence to coding guidelines.
Provide training and support to junior coders as needed, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Assist in the management of medical billing processes including collections and follow-up on outstanding accounts.
Requirements

Proven experience in medical coding with a strong understanding of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-10, HCPCS and general medical billing practices.
Familiarity with EMR systems is essential for efficient workflow management.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to interpret complex medical records accurately.
Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred to enhance understanding of clinical workflows.
Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for identifying discrepancies in documentation.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team while maintaining high levels of productivity.
